Digital Preservation and Long-Term Access

Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, integrity, and continuity of its scholarly content.

To protect the scholarly record against data loss, technical failure, platform disruption, or the discontinuation of journal operations, the journal participates in established digital preservation services and maintains arrangements for long-term archival access.

The journal currently uses:

  • PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN); and

  • Portico

as part of its digital preservation and archiving strategy.

These preservation services help ensure that published content remains securely archived and can continue to be accessed over the long term, including under circumstances in which the journal website or publishing platform becomes unavailable.

PKP Preservation Network

Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun uses the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) as one of its digital preservation mechanisms.

PKP PN supports the preservation of scholarly journal content published through the Open Journal Systems environment by maintaining distributed archival copies of eligible journal content.

Through participation in PKP PN, the journal strengthens the resilience of its digital scholarly record by ensuring that preserved content is not dependent solely on the continued operation of the journal's primary website or local server infrastructure.

The use of distributed preservation provides an additional safeguard against:

  • Server failure;

  • Accidental data loss;

  • Hardware or software failure;

  • Cybersecurity incidents;

  • Institutional or technical disruption;

  • Website discontinuation; and

  • Long-term loss of access to published scholarly content.

Portico Preservation

The journal also uses Portico as part of its long-term digital preservation strategy.

Preservation in the Event of Journal Discontinuation

If Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun or its publishing platform were ever to cease operation, preserved copies maintained through the journal's archival arrangements are intended to support continued access to the published scholarly record.

This policy is designed to ensure that previously published articles do not disappear solely because of:

  • Discontinuation of the journal;
