Repository Policy

Self-Archiving Statement

Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun supports open scholarly communication and encourages authors to disseminate their research as widely as possible.

The journal permits authors to deposit and make publicly accessible all principal versions of their manuscripts, including the Submitted Version (Preprint), Accepted Version (Postprint), and Published Version (Version of Record), through institutional repositories, subject repositories, multidisciplinary repositories, preprint servers, personal academic websites, and other appropriate scholarly platforms.

Authors retain the copyright to their published articles and may exercise their self-archiving rights without requesting additional permission from the journal, provided that the applicable copyright, licensing, attribution, and publication-status requirements described in this policy are observed.

The journal does not require authors to transfer copyright as a condition of publication.

1. Submitted Version (Preprint)

The Submitted Version, also known as the Preprint, is the author's manuscript before formal peer review and before acceptance for publication by Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun.

Authors are permitted to deposit the Submitted Version:

  • On recognized preprint servers;

  • In institutional repositories;

  • In subject-based repositories;

  • In multidisciplinary repositories;

  • On personal or academic websites;

  • In funder-designated repositories;

  • In research organization repositories; and

  • On other appropriate scholarly archiving platforms.

Authors may make the Submitted Version publicly available before or during submission and peer review.

Depositing a preprint does not constitute prior publication and does not prevent the manuscript from being considered for publication by Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun.

Conditions for the Submitted Version

When a manuscript has also been submitted to the journal, authors are encouraged to indicate clearly that the deposited document is a preprint and has not yet undergone the journal's peer-review process.

A suitable statement is:

This manuscript is a preprint and has not yet undergone peer review by Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun.

Once the article has been published, authors should update the repository or preprint-server record whenever technically possible by:

  • Adding the complete citation of the published article;

  • Providing the DOI or persistent link to the Version of Record;

  • Clearly indicating that a peer-reviewed and published version is available; and

  • Linking users to the official published article.

The journal encourages authors to maintain the scholarly connection between the preprint and the final published article.

2. Accepted Version (Postprint)

The Accepted Version, also known as the Postprint or Author Accepted Manuscript, is the manuscript that has successfully completed peer review and has been formally accepted for publication, including revisions required during the editorial process, but before the journal's final typesetting, layout, pagination, and publication formatting.

Authors are permitted to archive the Accepted Version in:

  • Institutional repositories;

  • Subject repositories;

  • Multidisciplinary repositories;

  • Preprint and scholarly manuscript servers;

  • Funder-designated repositories;

  • Personal academic websites;

  • Research organization websites and repositories; and

  • Other appropriate scholarly repositories or platforms.

Authors may deposit the Accepted Version following formal acceptance by the journal.

Conditions for the Accepted Version

When depositing an Accepted Version, authors should clearly identify the manuscript as an accepted manuscript rather than the final Version of Record.

After the final article has been published, the archived Accepted Version should include, wherever technically possible:

  • A complete citation to the published article;

  • The article DOI or persistent URL;

  • The name Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun as the journal of publication; and

  • A statement directing readers to the official Version of Record.

A suitable statement is:

This is the author-accepted version of an article accepted for publication in Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun. The final Version of Record is available from the journal website.

Once the article is published, authors are encouraged to add the DOI and bibliographic information to this statement.

3. Published Version (Version of Record)

The Published Version, also referred to as the Version of Record, is the final article formally published by Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun after completion of peer review, editorial processing, copyediting, typesetting, layout, and publication.

Authors may deposit, distribute, and make publicly available the Published Version through:

  • Institutional repositories;

  • Subject repositories;

  • Multidisciplinary repositories;

  • Preprint servers that permit Version of Record deposits;

  • Funder-designated repositories;

  • Personal academic websites;

  • Research organization repositories;

  • Scholarly networking and dissemination platforms where permitted by the platform's terms; and

  • Other appropriate websites or repositories.

The journal encourages authors to archive the Published Version because it represents the definitive scholarly record and contains the final citation, publication information, and licensing statement.

Conditions for the Published Version

When archiving or redistributing the Published Version, authors and users should:

  • Preserve the original authorship information;

  • Identify Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun as the original journal of publication;

  • Include the complete bibliographic citation;

  • Retain the DOI or other persistent identifier where available;

  • Preserve the copyright and licensing notice; and

  • Comply with the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

The archived copy should not be presented in a manner that obscures, alters, or misrepresents its status as the Version of Record.

4. Embargo Policy

Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun permits authors to self-archive manuscript versions according to their publication stage without imposing an additional repository embargo.

Accordingly:

  • The Submitted Version may be deposited before or during peer review;

  • The Accepted Version may be deposited after formal acceptance; and

  • The Published Version may be deposited after publication.

Authors do not need to request separate permission from the journal to exercise these archiving rights.

5. Permitted Repository Locations

The journal does not restrict self-archiving to a particular repository provider.

Authors may deposit permitted manuscript versions in appropriate repositories and scholarly platforms, including:

  • Institutional repositories;

  • Departmental repositories;

  • Subject-specific repositories;

  • Multidisciplinary repositories;

  • National or international research repositories;

  • Funder-designated repositories;

  • Preprint servers;

  • Author personal websites;

  • Institutional or research-group websites; and

  • Other legitimate scholarly preservation and dissemination services.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the repository or platform they select preserves the integrity, authorship, licensing information, and publication status of the deposited work.

6. Preprint Policy

Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun recognizes the legitimate role of preprints in accelerating scholarly communication.

A manuscript that has previously been deposited on a preprint server or repository is eligible for submission to the journal and will not be rejected solely because a preprint version is publicly available.

Authors should disclose the existence of a preprint when submitting the manuscript and provide the relevant persistent identifier or URL when requested.

The existence of a preprint does not replace the journal's editorial assessment or double-blind peer-review process. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must satisfy the same scholarly, methodological, ethical, and editorial standards regardless of whether a preprint has previously been deposited.

7. Updating Preprints After Publication

To preserve an accurate and transparent scholarly record, authors are strongly encouraged to update preprint records after an article has been formally published.

The updated record should indicate that:

  • The manuscript has been peer reviewed;

  • A final Version of Record has been published;

  • The article was published in Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun; and

  • The final article can be accessed through its DOI or official journal webpage.

Authors are not required to remove the original preprint merely because the final article has been published.

Maintaining links among different manuscript versions helps readers identify the authoritative Version of Record while preserving the history of scholarly communication.

8. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright to articles published in Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun.

The Published Version is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Under this license, the published article may be shared and adapted, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate attribution is given and adaptations are distributed under the same or a compatible ShareAlike license.

Repository copies of the Published Version should retain the original copyright and CC BY-SA 4.0 licensing information.

Nothing in this Repository and Self-Archiving Policy transfers copyright ownership from authors to the journal.

9. Citation and Link to the Version of Record

Once an article has been formally published, authors should ensure that deposited versions clearly identify the Version of Record whenever technically possible.

Repository metadata should include:

  • Author name or names;

  • Article title;

  • Journal title;

  • Volume, issue, and publication year, where applicable;

  • Page range or article number, where applicable;

  • DOI or another persistent identifier; and

  • A link to the official published article.

The journal strongly encourages the use of the DOI when linking repository copies to the Version of Record because a persistent identifier improves discoverability and maintains the relationship among manuscript versions.

10. Repository Metadata

Authors and repository managers are encouraged to provide accurate metadata when depositing manuscripts.

Repository metadata should distinguish clearly among:

  • Submitted Version / Preprint;

  • Accepted Version / Postprint / Author Accepted Manuscript; and

  • Published Version / Version of Record.

Accurate version labeling helps readers understand the editorial status of a deposited manuscript and prevents confusion between manuscripts that have not undergone peer review and the final scholarly record.

11. No Permission Required for Self-Archiving

Authors do not need to contact the editor, editorial office, or publisher for separate permission to archive manuscript versions in accordance with this policy.

The permission to self-archive is granted through this publicly stated policy.

Authors remain responsible for:

  • Correctly identifying the manuscript version;

  • Providing appropriate attribution;

  • Updating records following publication;

  • Respecting third-party copyright;

  • Preserving applicable licensing information; and

  • Providing the citation and DOI of the Version of Record when available.

12. Third-Party Copyrighted Material

The journal's self-archiving permission applies to material for which the authors possess the necessary rights.

Figures, photographs, maps, illustrations, instruments, datasets, or other material reproduced from third-party sources may be governed by separate copyright or licensing restrictions.

Authors are responsible for determining whether third-party permissions allow repository deposit and public redistribution.

Where third-party material is excluded from the article's Creative Commons license, that exclusion should remain clearly identified in any archived copy.

13. Relationship Between Repository Copies and the Version of Record

Repository copies support dissemination and preservation but do not replace the journal's responsibility for maintaining the official scholarly record.

The final article published on the Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun website constitutes the Version of Record.

Where multiple versions of an article are publicly available, readers should be able to determine:

  • Which version they are viewing;

  • Whether that version has undergone peer review;

  • Whether the manuscript has been accepted;

  • Whether a final Version of Record exists; and

  • Where the Version of Record can be accessed.

This transparency protects the integrity of both prepublication scholarly communication and the final published record.

14. Repository Policy Summary

15. Commitment to Open Scholarly Dissemination

Buletin Ilmiah Nagari Membangun regards responsible self-archiving as an important component of open scholarly communication.

By permitting authors to archive the Submitted Version, Accepted Version, and Published Version, the journal seeks to:

  • Accelerate the dissemination of scholarly knowledge;

  • Increase the accessibility and visibility of research;

  • Support institutional and funder open-access requirements;

  • Facilitate long-term access through repositories;

  • Encourage responsible sharing of research outputs;

  • Strengthen connections among researchers, practitioners, institutions, and communities; and

  • Preserve transparent relationships among different versions of scholarly manuscripts.

The journal therefore supports broad author self-archiving while maintaining clear version identification, accurate attribution, responsible licensing, and direct linkage to the authoritative Version of Record.
